Fiola Mare

“Italian coastal cuisine at the edge of the Potomac, where the room earns the reservation”

Verified listing · Updated May 2026

The Experience

Fiola Mare sits at the Georgetown waterfront — the ground floor of a building that faces the Potomac directly — and the room is designed to make the most of it. Floor-to-ceiling windows, a white marble bar, and an outdoor terrace that is one of Washington’s better places to sit when the weather cooperates. The aesthetic is Italian coastal: light, clean lines, confident without being cold.

Chef Fabio Trabocchi’s kitchen executes Italian seafood at a very high level — crudo, pasta with seafood, whole roasted fish, a raw bar program that reflects serious sourcing. The pasta is handmade. The service has the smooth efficiency of a restaurant that operates at this price point without having to announce it.

For lunch, Fiola Mare is one of the better power-dining rooms in Washington — the clientele skews professional and the service is fast enough that a business lunch actually ends on time. At dinner, the pacing opens up and the room becomes something else.

The Value Proposition

Fiola Mare is expensive, and the cost is real. What you’re paying for is a kitchen that executes at a consistent level of excellence, a room that looks like it cost what it cost, and a location that no other Washington restaurant shares. The lunch prix-fixe is a more accessible entry point.

It’s the kind of restaurant where the occasion is partly the room — arriving from the Georgetown waterfront entrance on a clear evening, with the Potomac visible through the windows, does something to the mood that’s worth accounting for.

Know Before You Go

Reservations are essential, particularly for dinner and weekend brunch. The waterfront entrance on K Street is a better arrival than the garage side — take a moment with it. Dress well. The restaurant doesn’t post a dress code, but the room sets expectations clearly. Valet parking is available at the Georgetown waterfront complex.
