The shop sits in a narrow rowhouse on O Street NW, just west of 32nd, in the part of Georgetown where the sidewalk narrows and the brick runs right to the curb. A standing bucket of roses faces the door. Inside, the coolers hold peonies in late spring, dahlias in summer, orchid stems arranged by color along a back shelf. The space is small enough that the scent of cut stems reaches you before you cross the threshold.

Taraneh Dadmarz opened English Rose Garden in 1997 and has run it since. She trained in floral design in Europe before settling in Washington, and the sensibility she brought back shows in how her arrangements are built: lush and abundant, but not cluttered. She has described the goal as preserving the natural look of freshly picked flowers while adding what she calls an unusual twist, a container choice or a structural decision that lifts a bouquet out of the ordinary. She works across traditional, modern, and eclectic briefs and handles them differently, which is less common than it sounds.

The shop’s regular inventory runs to roses, hydrangeas, sunflowers, lilies, and orchids alongside a rotating stock of seasonal blooms that includes peonies, ranunculus, and dahlias when they are available. For weddings and large events, Dadmarz and her team take on full installation work, dressing ceremony spaces, reception tables, and cocktail-hour arrangements from a single consultation. Home and office installation clients can arrange recurring deliveries. For daily orders, the shop delivers same-day within Washington if the order comes in before noon, and the delivery territory covers more than fifty neighborhoods and surrounding communities across the metro area.

English Rose Garden has operated from the same address for nearly three decades, long enough to have built a client list that includes institutional accounts at the State Department and the Supreme Court alongside the private clients who make up the bulk of its business. The shop holds Premier Florist designation on BloomNation and carries more than four hundred reviews on WeddingWire, where it maintains a five-star average across every category. That kind of record over that span of time is a function of consistency more than novelty.

Saturday hours run until six in the evening, which makes a walk-in on the way home from weekend errands easy enough. Sunday hours are shorter, from ten-thirty in the morning to four-thirty in the afternoon, so arrive early if you are counting on finding the week’s best seasonal stock. For weddings and events, Dadmarz takes consultations by appointment, and clients who reach out early in the planning process give themselves the most room to work with her on sourcing. First-time visitors who simply want flowers can walk in any weekday; the standing arrangements near the door give a fair sample of what the coolers hold.
